    **Regional Quality Assurance & Education Nurse – State Veterans Homes **

    STGi is seeking qualified candidates for this position in connection with an active Request for Proposals (RFP). Hiring for this role is contingent upon STGi’s selection as the successful awardee.

    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Regional Quality Assurance & Education Nurse is responsible for overseeing clinical quality improvement initiatives and coordinating education and training programs across multiple long-term care facilities. This role ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, promotes best practices, supports survey readiness, and drives clinical performance improvement.

    The position supports Directors of Nursing (DONs), administrators, and clinical staff in maintaining high standards of resident care and regulatory compliance.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance

    • Monitor and evaluate clinical outcomes, quality indicators, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across assigned facilities.
    • Conduct routine clinical audits (MDS, documentation, infection control, medication management, wound care, etc.).
    • Ensure compliance with CMS regulations and state survey requirements.
    • Lead mock surveys and survey readiness preparation.
    • Develop and implement Plans of Correction (POCs) and follow-up monitoring.
    • Track and trend Quality Measures (QMs) and Five-Star data.
    • Support facilities during state and federal surveys.

    Education & Training

    • Develop and deliver clinical education programs for nursing staff and leadership.
    • Provide onboarding education for new DONs and nurse managers.
    • Conduct skills validation and competency assessments.
    • Educate teams on regulatory updates and changes in standards of practice.
    • Assist in leadership development for nurse supervisors and unit managers.
    • Coordinate in-service training programs aligned with quality improvement goals.

    Performance Improvement

    • Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.
    • Identify opportunities for clinical improvement and risk reduction.
    • Analyze data trends and implement corrective action plans.
    • Collaborate with regional and facility leadership to improve clinical outcomes.
    • Support reduction of rehospitalizations, infection rates, falls, and pressure injuries.

    Clinical Support

    • Serve as a clinical resource for Directors of Nursing.
    • Provide interim clinical support when needed.
    • Assist with staffing assessments and workflow improvements.
    • Support implementation of new clinical systems or protocols

    Required Skills

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

    • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing (multi-state preferred).
    • Minimum 3–5 years of long-term care experience.
    • Minimum 2 years in nursing leadership (DON, ADON, QA, Clinical Education or regional role preferred).
    • Strong knowledge of CMS regulations and state survey process.
    • Experience with Quality Measures.
    • Demonstrated experience in staff education and training.
    • Ability to travel.

    Required Experience

    REQUIRED EDUCATION:

    • Active North Carolina Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing (multi-state preferred).
    • Infection Preventionist Certification (IP) preferred.
    • Wound Care Certification preferred.
    • QAPI training or certification preferred.

    • This position primarily involves sitting, standing, walking, twisting, reaching, bending/stooping, pushing and pulling (typical weight of 5 lbs. and maximum weight of 30 lbs., approximately), and lifting (minimum weight of 5 lbs. and maximum weight of 100 lbs., approximately)

    • The position requires repetitive finger movements as well as hearing and talking on the phone and in person.

    • Must be able to continuously deal effectively with stress created by residents, multiple tasks, noises, interruptions, and work cooperatively as part of the health care team while maintaining a pleasant attitude
