    Job Description

    Registered Dietitian – Eastpointe Dialysis – 20 Hours/Week – Day Shift

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Registered Dietitian (RD) to join our dedicated team. The RD will play a vital role in providing comprehensive and individualized nutritional care to patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing dialysis treatment.

** Location: 21400 Kelly Rd. Eastpointe, MI 48021**

Eastpointe Dialysis is a freestanding outpatient dialysis facility. The department is staffed with Nephrologists, Registered Nurses, and Dialysis Clinical Technicians. The unit has multiple support staff members including the front desk team and tech leader staff (machine maintenance) that may assist with operational duties within the clinic. Our team provides patient education as well as referrals to transplant services for sites the patient requests to be referred to. The unit is typically open Monday through Saturday from 5:00 am to 7:30 pm for patient care hours with some flexibility based on the clinic's needs.

Ready to make a real difference in patients' lives? As our Registered Dietitian, you'll be the nutritional champion for our dialysis patients, partnering with an amazing interdisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive, compassionate care. You'll collaborate with fellow dietitians to share insights and create meaningful educational experiences that truly impact patient outcomes.

    What You'll Be Doing:

    • Get to Know Your Patients: Conduct engaging initial and follow-up assessments with patients and their support systems to understand their unique nutritional needs.
    • Assess & Analyze: Evaluate patients' nutritional status and track progress over time with keen attention to detail.
    • Prescribe & Educate: Design personalized diets, calculate nutritional requirements, and empower patients, caregivers, and staff with practical nutrition knowledge they can actually use.
    • Build the Bridge: Coordinate seamlessly with hospitals, extended care facilities, home health agencies, senior centers, and community nutrition programs to ensure continuity of care.
    • Stay on Track: Monitor how well patients are following their nutrition plans and celebrate wins along the way.
    • Optimize Medications & Supplements: Make thoughtful recommendations on phosphorus binders, renal vitamins, stool softeners, oral iron products, cinacalcet, vitamin D analogs, and calcium supplements.
    • Dive into the Data: Review monthly lab results with patients, translating numbers into actionable insights.
    • Problem-Solve Creatively: Recommend and monitor alternative feeding strategies, including tube feedings and supplemental nutrition options.
    • Be Ready for Action: Provide swift crisis intervention when needed—from managing panic values to addressing hyperkalemia with confidence.
    • Connect the Dots: Monitor how medications interact with nutrition to prevent complications and optimize patient health.

This posting represents the major duties, responsibilities, and authorities of this job and is not intended to be a complete list of all tasks and duties. It should be understood, therefore, that employees may be asked to perform job-related duties beyond those explicitly described above.
