Description:
Interventional Pain Management practice seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) with a minimum of 5 years of experience to practice both collaboratively with Dr. Aldon Williams and autonomously to deliver high-quality patient care. Including, but not limited to, assistance with pre-op and post-op procedures including IV set up and ensuring patients have a smooth recovery following procedures. Must have strong IV skills to administer various intravenous therapies and supervise medical assistants.
Qualifications:
- Holds current active state licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Texas and complies with any applicable state statutory and regulatory requirements with no current disciplinary actions.
- Holds current BLS and ACLS licensure through AHA.
- Demonstrates current competency in the clinical responsibilities below.
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Perform and document preanesthesia assessment and evaluation of the patient.
- Obtain informed consent for anesthesia and related services.
- Select, obtain, order and administer preanesthetic medication or treatment.
- Select, obtain, prepare and use equipment, non-invasive monitors, supplies, and drugs for administration of sedation.
- Manage narcotic log.
- RN must have excellent IV access skills and will be trained to perform various Ozone Therapies. Perform intravenous insertion.
- Dr. Williams’ practice is a Center for Wellness and Regenerative Medicine, as such the RN is expected to engage in the wellness concept utilizing invasive and non-invasive therapies, as well as the integration of pharmaceutical and naturopathic medicine.
- Assist with initial evaluations of new patients with acute and chronic pain or wellness visits.
- Assist with follow-up visits after interventional procedures performed by the physician.
- Increased clinical responsibilities may be added as additional education and experience is obtained by the individual practitioner.
Patient Safety:
- Takes action to correct observed risks to patient safety
- Reports adverse events and near misses immediately to Dr. Williams
- Identifies possible risks in processes, procedures, devices and communicates immediately to Dr. Williams
Nonclinical Responsibilities:
- Administrative oversight of the office
- Supervision of clinical and nonclinical staff
- Quality assessment and quality assurance as related to Federal, State & Local regulations
- Education of staff related to core competencies. Specifics to be delineated as needed.
- Follow OSHA requirements for Texas including Emergency Action Plan, Exposure Control Plan, Notice to employees, Material Safety Datasheet, etc.
- Manage infection control, aseptic techniques, and cleaning methods.
- Keeps staff’s CPR/TB requirements and vaccines up to date. Medical title up to date.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- This position has extensive patient contact, and the individual (RN) should possess an approachable, friendly, professional and “people-oriented” disposition.
- Demonstrates strong management/leadership skills to supervise medical assistants in clinical and nonclinical office/work duties.
- Possesses experience with electronic medical record technology and be willing to learn and fully utilize specific EMR in the practice.
- Current certification in basic CPR or ability to be certified
- Current certification in ACLS or ability to be certified
- Familiar with infection control, aseptic techniques, and cleaning methods
Other:
- This RN position could be either a part-time or full-time position.
- This is an out-patient facility, no hospital call.
- Work will be performed in two locations:
-Boerne Office (916 River Road)
-San Antonio Office (4242 Woodcock Drive, Suite 100) (every other Thursday).
