General Description:
Under the general supervision of the Clinical Nurse Manager Wound Care, the RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care of patients in the Wound Healing Center. Is responsible for meeting the established WHC standards of Nursing Practice in the management of all assigned patients. Assists physicians with the development and implementation of wound treatment plans and participates in performance review activities. Acts within the guidelines of federal and state laws.
Key Responsibilities:
Initiates a nursing assessment of patient’s condition upon admission and communicates findings with the assigned physician. Assesses, stages, measures and photographs wounds accurately and in accordance to policy on admission and with every follow-up visits.
Identifies patient care situations that require interventions, implements nursing actions and evaluates responses.
Identifies patient/family education and discharge needs and implements a teaching plan of care. Implements and evaluates effectiveness of patient education.
Organizes assessment data for accuracy, completeness and confidentiality, records assessment data in orderly fashion and communicates, verbalizes pertinent information to other health care team members.
Assists physician with wound therapy.
Accurately completes and documents all orders and charges are initiated accurately.
Coordinates activities with other disciplines (rehab, nutrition, diabetic education, home health, DME, nursing homes and other ancillary services).
Documentation is concise, pertinent, legible, and on the appropriate form. Nursing care is provided in an organized, timely, safe, cost effective manner. Appropriately utilizes resources and equipment. Plan of care is accurately documented for all assigned patients, collaborating with the physician.
Communicates effectively with co-workers, physicians, patients, families, and other health care team members and follows the chain of command.
Knows fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as pertains to the work area.
Performs similar or related duties, as assigned.
Requirements:
Formal Education:
Graduate of an RN education program (accredited preferred); Associate Degree in Nursing required.
Bachelor Degree in Nursing preferred
Work Experience:
At least 1 year experience
Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:
State of Florida RN
*BLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP certifications must be obtained through the AHA
Cardiac Cath Lab: BLS, NIH Stroke Scale and ACLS required
Emergency Department: BLS, NIH Stroke Scale, ACLS and PALS required
Intensive Care Unit: BLS, NIH Stroke Scale and ACLS required
Interventional Radiology: BLS NIH Stroke Scale and ACLS required
Med/Telemetry: BLS, NIH Stroke Scale and ACLS required
Post-Anesthesia Care Unit: BLS, ACLS and PALS required
Women’s Center: BLS and NRP required
