Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse – System Float Med/Surg provides comprehensive nursing care across multiple medical and surgical units. This role requires the ability to assess complex nursing situations, anticipate patient needs, and deliver evidence-based interventions in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess patient conditions and identify nursing problems proactively, often before explicit changes in vital signs or clinical indicators become apparent
• Develop and implement individualized, effective nursing care plans based on clinical assessment and patient-specific needs
• Perform a comprehensive range of professional nursing services across medical and surgical patient populations
• Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, families, and interdisciplinary hospital personnel to ensure coordinated care
• Adapt quickly to different clinical environments while maintaining consistent quality of care across multiple unit assignments
• Demonstrate clinical knowledge and analytical thinking to address complex nursing situations and patient care challenges

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Two years of related clinical nursing experience in the area of interest.
• Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
• Current BLS certification; ACLS, NRP, and EFM where required.
• Up-to-date TB and vaccine requirements (e.g., flu).

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-location healthcare environment.
• Experience with electronic health record systems and clinical documentation.
