Title: Regulatory Consultant
Location: Columbus, OH (Hybrid: Onsite Tuesday–Thursday)

Rate: $40.00 – $60.00/hr
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Regulatory Consultant to support regulatory filings, cost recovery processes, and financial reporting activities for utility operations. This hybrid role requires a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally with multiple business units including Legal, Accounting, and Financial Planning.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in finance, economics, or accounting, with demonstrated success supporting regulatory filings and rate cases.
Collaborate with operating company management teams to ensure timely recovery of costs included in base rates and approved recovery mechanisms.
Conduct analytical studies to develop and recommend regulatory strategies that optimize cost recovery and maximize returns on invested capital.
Prepare testimony and exhibits for regulatory applications; analyze intervenor testimony and assist in cross-examination and hearing preparation.
Support the preparation of cost-of-service and cost allocation studies in compliance with commission regulations.
Ensure accurate development, interpretation, and implementation of approved rates in the customer billing system, verifying billing accuracy.
Provide comprehensive financial support, including accurate reporting of regulatory items within external filings, internal management reporting, and financial plan updates.
Foster collaboration with internal departments such as Legal, Financial Planning, and Accounting.
Compile, organize, analyze, and format data for base rate case filings and other regulatory reports.
Maintain awareness of ongoing state regulatory projects to ensure compliance and superior customer service.
Promote continuous improvement by embracing new technologies and process enhancements.
Perform all duties with a strong attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness under general supervision.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related business discipline.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
Proven ability to deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in regulatory affairs, utility accounting, or financial planning.
Working knowledge of cost allocation, rate design, or regulatory filings.
Familiarity with utility commission regulations and rate recovery mechanisms.
Hybrid work schedule: Onsite in the office Tuesday through Thursday , with remote flexibility on Monday and Friday.
