Job Title: Lab Assistant – Phlebotomist Revision: November 2019

FLSA: Non-Exempt – Part-Time 30 hours
Summary: Assists clinic with laboratory needs by performing the following duties.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Clinical
Collects blood, urine, or other laboratory specimens, logs the specimens and prepares them for testing. *
Prepares Lab patient/processing rooms for patient phlebotomy, keeping the rooms neat and clean. *
Obtains patient vital signs to include blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight and height; documents in EMR*
Cleans and sterilizes instruments and disposes of contaminated supplies. *
Prepares and administers lab related injectable components as directed by supervisor. *
Explains treatment procedures, physicians' instructions and supplement recommendations to patients. *
Performs routine laboratory tests and sample analyses. *
Process blood, bone marrow, for regenerative procedures. *
Performs laundry, cleaning, sterilization, organization, stocking of clinic rooms and other housekeeping duties. *
Communicates/orders when supplies are low to ensure proper inventory. *
Answers simple patient inquiry's or refers to triage for detailed information. *
Continues education and personal growth to maintain all registrations, licensures, and certifications*

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A. / B. S.) from four-year college or university in athletic training or exercise physiology; and no less than one year related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

For ATC: Certified Athletic Trainer Certifications –Board of Certification and/or Registered MN Board of Medical Licensure
