    Job Description

    We are seeking an innovative Scientist to join our growing Preclinical Development team! This position is ideal for recent Ph.D. graduates who are interested in pursuing a career in industry instead of pursing a Postdoc. As a Scientist, in vivo Pharmacology, you will collaborate closely with the preclincal leadership team to develop and execute studies focused on evaluating the safety and efficacy of our lead therapeutic candidates in animal models of cardiomyopathy and age-related disorders. This role will involve leading certain projects and working with internal team members, external collaborators, and CROs. The successful candidate will possess expertise in protein and DNA assay development (e.g., ELISA, Western Blot, qPCR) and mammalian cell culture, as well as exceptional data management and integrity skills. This position reports to the Sr. Scientist of our Pharmacology group.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Carry out screening of in vivo generated samples to evaluate safety, efficacy, and optimization of novel AAV-based therapies in animal models of cardiomyopathy, metabolic disorders, and age-related disease.
    • Performing basic and advanced cell culture on a variety of cell lines. 
    • Majority of time dedicated to performing experiments in the lab.
    • Designing and executing experiments independently and in conjunction with cross-functional assay and product development teams in support multiple gene therapy programs. 
    • Assist in the preparation of study reports for IND enabling studies for late-stage gene therapy candidates. 
    • Foster cross-functional collaborations with academic institutions and CROs.
    • Adhere to laboratory protocols and safety regulations.
    • Meticulously document all experiments and laboratory practices.
    • Deliver on-time, high-quality results and effectively communicate progress clearly in group meetings.
    • Perform any additional duties assigned by supervisor or manager.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Ph.D. in Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Physiology, or related discipline. Postdoc or industry experience is not required. We specifically seek a highly motivated recent Ph.D. graduate who wishes to forgo a postdoc and launch their career in industry. 
    • Knowledge and experience with viral vectors and in vivo delivery of AAV is highly preferred.
    • Demonstrated experience leading projects to completion and experience leading in vivo pharmacology and/or toxicology projects is highly desirable.
    • Experience with DNA and protein-based assay development (ex. ELISA, Western Blot, qPCR) is a must.
    • A knowledge of statistical analysis and data visualization software for large preclinical datasets.
    • Demonstrable experience keeping pristine records of experiments and DNA constructs produced using a digital laboratory notebook.
    • Ability to successfully do research independently with only a goal as input. 
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally.

    Additional Information

    BASE SALARY: $100k - $120k+; exact salary and job title will depend on experience.
