    Job Description

    Job Summary:

    _ NOTE: This is a Two Year Term Position_

    • Operates shuttle bus and van service.
    • Receives instructions from radio dispatcher and responds to requests throughout Cambridge/Allston campuses.
    • Normal hours of work will be 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday - Friday (Sat/Sun off), 40 hrs/wk during the academic year.
    • Management will have the discretion to alter work schedule day with a 48-hour notice to employee to cover for vacations/extended absences/open shifts/charters.

    Position Description:

    • Operates shuttle bus on designated routes on the Cambridge and Allston campuses.
    • Operates shuttle van to meet scheduled and on-demand passenger pick-up requests
    • Operates transit vehicles for charters and extended services.
    • Communicates on two-way radio with dispatcher to receive instructions and confirm changes, additions, or deletions from route schedule.
    • Performs daily safety inspection of vehicle and equipment.
    • Completes vehicle condition report which includes requests for maintenance and repair.
    • Performs daily cleaning of vehicle interior including: emptying the trash receptacles, sweeping/washing the floor, and dusting the seating surfaces.
    • Performs refueling and electric recharging of vehicles as needed.
    • Assists passengers with mobility impairments both entering and exiting vehicle.
    • Performs related duties as required.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be willing and able to perform physically demanding work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
    • The incumbent needs the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Required to sit for prolonged periods of time.

    Working Conditions:

    • Will be required to wear a uniform provided by employer.

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • A Valid Massachusetts State Commercial Driver’s license with “Passenger & Air Brake” endorsements.
    • A minimum of five years driving experience required and related passenger transport experience preferred.
    • Must have an excellent driving record.
    • Must possess strong verbal communication skills, a clear speaking voice, and solid customer service skills, including: courtesy, flexibility, sensitivity, patience, and humor.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a customer-focused team environment required.
