Department: Imaging/Radiology
Job Summary: The sonographer will perform a variety of ultrasound and vascular exams and assist with multiple interventional procedures. It is necessary to have extensive knowledge and understanding of ultrasound including but not limited to anatomy, pathology, and ultrasound physics. The employee will need to demonstrate the ability to provide high-quality care combined with excellent customer service. An employee will be expected to perform on-call duties as assigned and be flexible as workload demands. Employees must demonstrate a willingness to learn and teach others. The ability to work effectively with the direct team and other departments is extremely necessary. Job Responsibilities include:
Exhibits an ability to operate and preform basic maintenance of the Philips Epiq, Philips CX-50, Parks Flo lab, Trophon unit and Hokanson device
Ability to optimize settings to produce high quality images in accordance with the American College of Radiology protocols and guidelines.
Follows guidelines for radiation exposure (ALARA)
Adheres to policies and protocols for exams and procedures
Complies with CHS policy handbook
Preforms ancillary tasks in department such as stocking linen and supplies.
Communicates professionally and clearly
Complies with HIPAA regulations and adheres to CHS policy for patient identification
Complies with standards set by Joint Commission.
Demonstrates an understanding of PACS, Meditech, Imorgon and Shiftwizard.
Completes annual competency, training and healthstream assignments
Maintains CPR certification, RDMS and RVT certification, continuing education credits and updated licensures.
Demonstrates the ability to work as a team which includes but is not limited to co-workers, managers and radiologists
Demonstrates proper hand hygiene according to CHS policy
Demonstrates self-motivation and the ability to assist radiologist and other staff as needed
Performs tasks as assigned
Attends and participates in staff meetings
Assists with training of new employees and interns
Demonstrates proper phone etiquette, promptly answers the phones using the correct greeting, properly transfers calls using an introduction prior to transfer, properly takes a message collecting all required information
Demonstrates the ability to multitask as workload demands and manage a busy schedule
Maintains flexibility in work schedule as staffing levels demand
Is flexible in assuming other appropriate responsibilities not noted above
Performs on-call duties, holidays, and other shifts as assigned.
Willing to cover different shifts at different locations when needed
Requirements: Education: Completion of accredited school and/or currently registered. Experience: 1-2 years' experience preferred but not necessary.
