    Job Description

    About the Opportunity De Rigo REM is a leader in the design and distribution of fashion eyewear, located in San Fernando Valley, just north of Burbank. We are seeking a high-level Staff Accountant, with the opportunity to be promoted to Senior Accountant.

    The ideal upper-level accounting professional will have at least 5 years of experience as a Staff Accountant and must have experience collaborating with, or managing, an AP team, be organized, detail oriented, have superb communication skills, and the ability to work in a busy, multi-faceted environment. The right candidate must have advanced Excel skills and be proficient working with large spreadsheets, sorting, subtotaling, filtering and pivot tables, and will need to use analytical skills, along with their thorough knowledge of accounting principles, to analyze financial reports and forecasts.

    Experience in sales tax and Navision or SAP R/3 in the manufacturing and/or distribution/wholesale industry is highly preferred.

    REPORTING TO THE ACCOUNTING DIRECTOR, THIS POSITION WILL PERFORM THE FOLLOWING DUTIES:

    • Assist in the timely preparation of Financial Statements, Bank Reconciliations, and all other monthly reporting/closing procedures.

    • Manage and analyze the general ledger, subsidiary ledgers.

    • Supervise A/P team to ensure accuracy of vendor balances and timely payment of factories and AP accounts and weekly check run.

    • Work with AP specialist to reconcile vendor accounts and ensure payments are up to date.

    • Reconcile vendor accounts and ensure payments are up to date.

    • Review and reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable and maintain a schedule of all balance sheet accounts.

    • Reconcile, verify, and validate all entries and postings to balance sheet and income statement accounts.

    • Ensure all journal entries are supported with proper documentation for audit purposes.

    • Review budget comparison for accuracy and perform re-class and accruals as needed.

    • Supervise maintenance fixed asset ledger, calculate depreciation and accumulated depreciation amount and record purchases and disposals accordingly.

    • Supervise monthly intercompany account reconciliation to ensure intercompany transactions are balanced and accurately recorded in financial statements.

    • Assist with internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules, organization, and review of supporting documentation for audit.

    • Perform other accounting related duties/ Special ad hoc projects not listed as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS / SUCCESS FACTORS:

    • BA/BS Degree in accounting, finance, or related field
    • 5+ years general accounting experience including experience with accounts payable processes (A/P Review, A/R Review), General Ledger, Financial Statements, Contract Administration,
    • In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
    • Must be hands on, flexible, and able to manage multiple assignments, priorities and able to work independently with moderate supervision.
    • Solid analytical skills including efficient problem solving and the ability to understand big picture concepts. Suggest and implement improvement and streamlined processes.
    • Proficiency with ERP systems
    • Advanced Excel knowledge
    • Must be a team player with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
    • Communicate clearly with direct manager, upper management, department heads, team members, and co-workers in a customer service-friendly manner.

    PHYSICAL AND/OR MENTAL DEMANDS:

    • Working extended hours when requested/required for seasonal, end of month/year close, inventory, budgeting.
    • Ability to sit long durations.
    • Occasionally lifting file boxes if needed for archiving.
