    Job Description

    TITLE: Patient Service Representative EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Contract to Hire SALARY: $18.00/hr LOCATION: Atlanta, GA INDUSTRY: Healthcare POSITION SUMMARY:

    • Meet with and interview each patient who presents to the facility Emergency Department (ED) area due to injuries related to accidents associated with motor vehicles, general liability and/or workers compensation, during facility’s designated staffing hours.
    • Educate each patient on the different Auto Insurance coverage(s) available, Coordination of Benefits (COB) process related to accident claims, and how no-fault coverage can assist with their medical bills.
    • Engage each patient in the Auto Insurance claims initiation process to ensure claims are processed in a timely manner
    • Create a patient file in the system for each patient visit and maintain the file for accuracy.
    • Investigate and confirm any medical coverages related to auto, general liability, and/or worker compensation insurance available to the patient and updating the patient file in the system. 
    • Update patient accounts in any designated facility system(s), in accordance with the agreed upon business plan.
    • Process work daily for all Patient Counselor groups to ensure a consistent workflow for every patient file and result in timely reimbursement to the facility.
    • Communicate any issues/concerns involving patient files or personnel to your direct supervisor. 
    • Become patient advocate to assist patient through accident claims process.
    • Ability to work within a diverse team environment and offer ongoing support to team members.
    • Initiating an accident claim and providing details to auto and workers compensation carriers.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    • 2-4 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle or similar area.
    • Hospital registration/patient access experience preferred.
    • Property and Casualty (Auto Insurance, Workers’ Compensation) experience preferred.
    • Health Insurance Appeals experience preferred.
    • Subrogation and Coordination of Benefits experience preferred.
    • Ability to work well in an independent setting with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, hospital staff, adjusters and attorneys.
