The Master Mechanic is a highly skilled employee who is able to diagnose and repair a wide array of mechanical, electrical and incomplete assembly issues that come up on the assembly line. This position assumes a technical leadership position within the team. The Master Mechanic supports the supervisor and engineering in tackling difficult assignments, new projects, training, and organizing teammates to accomplish the mission of on time delivery of product.

Job Title: Master Mechanic (Direct Hire)

Job Type: Full Time / Direct Hire

Location: Penn Yan, NY

Shift: A shift (6am-2:30pm)

Pay: $23-30/hr.

The Job Duties:

• High level technical work on buses
• Inspection of own work and that of team members to be sure it meets highest quality standards
• Training of employees, test proficiency; making sure all are learning all the time
• Contributing process improvement and cost reduction ideas
• Serving as an example to all shop floor personnel of the highest standards of quality, output and technical capability
• Making sure that travelers are filled out properly; feedback on quality issues to supervisor and engineering
• Taking a leadership role in safety and housekeeping

Key Tasks: Daily and weekly tasks and expectations

• Work with supervisor to develop a training plan for all employees working in areas of Master Mechanics expertise – and people from adjacent areas who need to be cross trained
• While building buses, systematically coach and train employees according to the plan, so that each person is capable of performing multiple jobs proficiently (quality, speed, and knowledge)
• Inspect the work of teammates on each bus to assure that quality expectations ae being met and a perfect bus is being passed to the next group
• Troubleshoots problems, whether on the line or service work
• Assists engineering with new mechanical, electrical, A/C or other work within the Master Mechanic’s area of expertise.
• Help build a string manufacturing team
• On time delivery of product / meet production schedule / quality
• Quality Assurance
• Mechanics or Technical skills considered

Background Profile:

• 3+ years of high level / master mechanic experience
• Or Successful completion of a recognized mechanic program (Associates Degree or equivalent level program)High school diploma or equivalent
• Leadership / Ho to person on shop floor / positive attitude
• Enjoys training / teamwork / high expectations for self or others
• Problem solver / takes initiative / success oriented
• Quality ethic
• Mechanical troubleshooting experience
