POSITION DESCRIPTION:
TITLE: Human Resources Manager
REPORTS TO: General Manager
DEPARTMENT: Human Resources
LOCATION: Rochester, NY
As part of the Management team, the Human Resources Manager is responsible for all aspects of human resources for Rochester including recruitment & selection, compensation, benefits administration, employee relations, training & development, employment related policies & procedures, performance management administration, payroll and legislated projects. Also participates in site Health & Safety programs.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Implement policies, procedures and programs in all areas of human resources including employee relations, compensation and benefits, employee development, training.
- Facilitate internal training to employees and managers. Develop training content and improve as required.
- Administer the performance management system and provide guidance to managers and employees on effective utilization of the process.
- Partner with corporate benefits team to administer benefit programs to employees within division.
- Transmit payroll for the site.
- Answer all HR related inquiries in a robust and timely manner.
- Provide recommendations to management regarding compensation based on job match comparison and market data
- Take an active role in all health & safety issues within the organization and support health & safety focused programs and projects
- Negotiate terms and manage relationships with agencies and search firms
- Manage recruitment and selection of all required positions, including conducting interviews, reference checks and offer packages.
- Handle all employee relations’ issues to ensure equality is maintained and policies are utilized.
- Administer training database including revising and updating all training information.
- Develop and implement employee programs including orientation, training and development etc.
- Participate in regular Management meetings keeping company apprised of Human Resources initiatives, projects and monthly and yearly statistics. Support management team in organizational design and development activities.
- Keep the site director informed of employee issues and seek guidance as needed. As part of the Management team, has a strong role of ensuring HR values are always considered in any business decision; is the Guardian of HR values.
- Work closely with the regional HR team and global HR leaders to ensure local policies and actions are in alignment.
- Organize company and social functions and coordinate employee recognition programs.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES, AND ABILITIES:
- BS in Business or related field
- 5+ years’ experience in a Human Resources Supervisory role within a manufacturing environment.
- Able to work in a matrix environment in a large international corporation
- Knowledge of current employment legislation
- Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, email and internet skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and conflicting deadlines
- Strong sense of urgency and customer service focus
- Strong interpersonal, communication, time management and organizational skills
- Tactful and diplomatic
- Approachable, fair and logical
- Ability to communicate legislation, statutes and legal requirements in a consultative
