Job Title: Research and Development / R & D Technologist (Direct Hire)
Job Type: Permanent / Direct Hire
Location: Lafayette, NY
The Job Duties:
- Leading and supporting product development for customers and new projects/concepts.
- Work with the QC and R&D departments to develop products by designing experiments, analyzing statistical data, and interpreting results.
- Lead and support prototype development for customers and new projects/concepts.
- Design and conduct appropriate experiments in the laboratory and pilot plant to advance projects to completion.
- Understand project needs, define work plans, keep appropriate records, and provide status updates to project teams and key stakeholders.
- Stay engaged with industry trends and technical developments to best respond to company needs.
- Design and complete experiments involving food ingredients, high sweeteners, starches, hydrocolloids, colors, preservatives and flavors.
- Perform experimental design, statistical data analysis & interpretation of data.
Requirements:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, physics, or food science, etc.
- 3-5 years of experience in product development, food/dairy science, and analytics
- Experience with experimental design, statistical data analysis, and interpretation of results is preferred
- Experience with Pilot plant, CPG, homogenizers, separators, HTST, UHT and other unit operations preferred
- Some level of experience with project management is a plus
- Knowledge in GMP/cGMP, HACCP, PMO and FDA regulations as related to the food and beverage industry
- Ability to use standard lab scale dairy processing units, e.g., homogenizers and separators
