The Role: Remote Senior BigCommerce Engineer

We're hiring a Senior BigCommerce Engineer to support upcoming client-facing e-commerce projects. This is a fully remote, hands-on engineering role ideal for someone who thrives in fast-moving environments, has deep experience with BigCommerce (especially Stencil themes), and can deliver clean, scalable solutions. Bonus points if you've worked with Node.js or were previously employed at BigCommerce.

What You'll Do

• Develop and maintain custom storefronts and integrations using BigCommerce Stencil themes

• Collaborate with design, product, and engineering teams to deliver end-to-end e-commerce solutions

• ‍ Write clean, maintainable code aligned with modern e-commerce and development best practices

• Integrate with third-party APIs, payment gateways, CRMs, and shipping platforms

• ⚙ Troubleshoot bugs, optimize performance, and contribute to system architecture decisions

• Communicate effectively in remote/async environments

✅ What We're Looking For

• 3–5+ years of professional experience working with the BigCommerce platform

• Strong experience customizing BigCommerce Stencil themes

• Familiarity with BigCommerce APIs (Storefront API, Checkout SDK, etc.)

• Bonus: Experience with Node.js or prior employment at BigCommerce

• Understanding of responsive design, SEO, and e-commerce UX best practices

• Comfort with Git and modern collaboration tools in a remote setting

• A clear communicator who takes ownership and thrives in client-driven projects

Bonus Points For

• Experience with tools like Stripe, ShipStation, HubSpot, or Klaviyo

• Familiarity with headless commerce architecture

• Comfort contributing to project scoping, estimates, and proposals
