    Position Summary:

    MedStar Health Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Remote Payroll Specialist to process multi-state payrolls for a large, complex healthcare system. The ideal candidate will ensure timely and accurate payroll processing in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as internal policies. This is a fully remote position that requires excellent communication and organizational skills.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Process bi-weekly payroll for a high-volume, multi-entity healthcare system using enterprise payroll software (e.g., Workday, ADP, or Kronos).

    • Verify timesheets, manage payroll deductions, garnishments, and tax withholdings.

    • Maintain accurate payroll records and employee data, including onboarding, terminations, and pay changes.

    • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, ensuring excellent customer service.

    • Audit and reconcile payroll reports to identify and resolve discrepancies.

    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.

    • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other departments to support reporting, budgeting, and auditing needs.

    • Support year-end processes including W-2 preparation, audits, and tax filings.

    Qualifications:

    Required:

    • High School Diploma or GED

    • 3+ years of payroll processing experience in a large or multi-state organization

    • Strong knowledge of payroll laws and regulations (FLSA, IRS, DOL)

    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and payroll systems (Workday, ADP, or similar)

    • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

    • Excellent organizational and communication skills

    • Ability to work independently in a remote setting
