Job Description

As a Data Architect / Data Engineer you will be the main solution designer on the BI team and work with other SME's to ensure the overall EDW design is sound and of business value. Your key goal will be to ensure data availability, integrity, flow, calculation, accuracy and performance of access for analytics, operational reporting, and feeds to the digital team.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL ALSO:

• Ensure the development, construction, testing and maintenance of data architectures such as databases and large-scale processing systems
• Ensure the data architecture will support business growth, operational reporting needs, digital transformation
• Ensure understanding of business goals and objectives to deliver business growth by securing new and valuable data gathering opportunities
• Develop data sets, availability and flow of data for data mining, analysis and production exploration
• Ensure tool sets are determined, implemented and leveraged for integration, industrialization of data storage, movement and examination
• Make proactive recommendation to enrich, improve data
• Work with business groups to gather Business Intelligence requirements and leads the effort in translating them into an effective Data Warehouse design
• Utilize Dimensional Modeling and design skills to integrate new data into the existing Warehouse as well as continuously re-evaluating existing Data Warehouse and Data Marts to ensure optimal performance
• Fully document proposed solutions including data dictionary and related metadata elements.
• Assist the BI application development team in gathering business requirements and defining supporting multi-dimensional components of the Data Warehouse
• Work closely with the user community, technical staff and team members to develop reporting and analysis specifications and troubleshoot problems with Reporting, Dashboards, and other dependent systems.
• Assist the Systems Architecture and DBA teams in developing approaches to maintaining optimized Data Warehouse solutions, including strategies for aggregation and other derived structures
• Provide consultation on Data Warehousing design principles to teams
• Provide input and recommendations on design/technical issues to project manager/senior managers
• Respond to critical Data support issues in a timely manner with some on-call support for critical job failures

Qualifications

• Must have communication skills to work across departments to understand what business leaders want to gain from the company’s datasets
• Experience with Microsoft Azure business intelligence, data lake, platforms, services and development tools
• Familiarity with data modeling, warehousing and analytics concepts and technologies
• Experience designing and implementing data systems for positive business impact
• Proven ability to engage a diverse group of subject matter experts to work effectively and to produce quality results
• Experience working across financial, human resource, customer relationship management and supply chain business process and data elements
• Experience working with data scientists and digital teams to meet strategic data needs
• Strong knowledge and experience working across BI teams, engineering, application, ETL, data architecture and DBA
• Strong knowledge of IT quality assurance methods and process controls
• BS in Computer Science or MIS, or equivalent experience
• 7+ years of experience in business intelligence with progressive skills in contemporary warehouse platforms, applications and techniques
• 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or Data Architect
• A background in Oracle Exadata, Informatica, and OBIEE
