DESCRIPTION
The Accounting Manager is a key member of the financial team. A proactive problem solver, with strong business acumen, he/she will work collaboratively with other members of the senior management team, all levels of staff and outside vendors to provide superior client service as the functional lead. Having access to confidential information, discretion and independent judgment is required.
This role will report to the Controller and be based in our Manhattan headquarters.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Significant experience proactively handling all aspects of company's finances including financial reporting, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, bookkeeping, banking and account reconciliations, and
- Full ownership of daily accounting tasks - accounting entries, cash flow management and projections, accounts payable, bank and account reconciliations, bi-weekly payroll and accrual review.
- Preparing monthly financial statements and executive presentations of financial results - bank and account reconciliations, prepaids, accruals, BS and IS analytics including variances to budget/forecast.
- Work with managers across the organization to determine capex requirements and facilitate purchases.
- Assisting with annual tax and governmental reporting packages and documents.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with the senior management team and all levels of staff to achieve financial and operational strategies with a superior customer service approach.
- Assist with new system implementations and integrations to support company growth.
- Assist with M&A.
- Perform other responsibilities as needed and required.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA/BS in finance, accounting, or a related degree; CPA preferred
- 5+ years' experience as an accountant
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume environment, demonstrating a sense of urgency and effectively juggling demands and shifting priorities. Startup environment experience is helpful
- Microsoft Excel expert with capabilities to analyze large tables with extensive use of formulas rather than Pivot Tables.
