    WE ARE LOOKING FOR FULL-TIME MEDICAL RECORDS CONSULTANT

    Medical Records Consultant will manage, supervise, guide, motivate, and evaluate employees while implementing department policies.

    THIS POSITION WILL REQUIRE TRAVEL.

    RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Determine impact of errors occurring in electronic medical record.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish solutions to correct errors and deficiencies.
    • Create process to facilitate open, honest communication of medical record errors to promote patient and a culture of safety.
    • Participate in analysis of client-identified issues or problems, which may require changes to procedures, standards or systems.
    • Maintain integrity of the medical record by evaluating procedural causes of duplicate medical records and other issues affecting the master patient index (MPI).
    • Assist in achieving/maintaining the master patient index data, correct duplicate medical record numbers.
    • Provide health information management expertise to clinical and non-clinical staff and contracted providers and the clinical application systems that support Renew's electronic medical record.
    • Work with users and peers in planning, developing, implementing, supporting new or existing applications and developing record management plans to decommission existing application.
    • Understand functionality of various health information exchanges and use the info to improve processes.
    • Understand health information management processes, policies and applicable regulatory and accreditation standards.
    • Provide expert knowledge on clinical information systems, information security, confidentiality and info storage.
    • Develop and/or update HIM policies, procedures, job aids, standards and manuals.
    • Assure activities, policies and procedures related to medical records comply with state and federal requirements in addition to meeting accreditation and compliance standards..

    QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • MUST HAVE 4 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN MEDICAL RECORDS/HEALTH INFORMATION WITH A SKILLED NURSING FACILITY

    • Registered Health Information Administration (RHIA from American Health Information Management Association)

    • Registered Health Information Technology (RHIT from American Health Information Management Association),

    • Associate's degree in health information management.
