    Position Description

RenewCO2 is re-inventing chemical production using CO₂ emissions with a low-cost, high energy-efficiency, and carbon-negative electrochemical process. Our eCUT technology converts CO₂ into cost-competitive raw materials for plastics. We enable companies to meet emission reduction targets while producing sustainable materials at a profit.

We are inviting applications for a Summer Internship in Process Engineering. In this role, the candidate will engage in market and literature research to analyze the geographic influence of RenewCO2's eCUT technology on the market, identify factors that influence the availability and affordability of clean electricity, and uncover potential challenges and synergies for product adoption and distribution (including but not limited to regulations and tax incentives). The candidate's work will culminate in the preparation of a comprehensive, publicly releasable technical report that includes how the technology contributes to the reduction of feedstock carbon intensity (CI) and aligns with the Department of Energy's (DOE) Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) 2030 goal of being cost-competitive with petroleum-based fuels (achieving a minimum 70% reduction in greenhouse gas [GHG] emissions). Activities will be performed in-person at the company's laboratory and office space in Somerset, NJ.

The DOE BETO is supporting this 10-week internship, with the purpose to improve the diversity of the research workforce by recruiting and supporting undergraduate and graduate students from underrepresented groups.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct thorough market and literature research.
    • Analyze regulatory and tax environments in relation to successful technology adoption.
    • Identify drivers and challenges for the adoption of the technology in various geographic locations.

    • Prepare a technical report outlining the technology's contribution to the DOE BETO future goals.

    • High level of enthusiasm and strong commitment to gain experience in carbon utilization process development.

    Preferred qualifications

    • Background in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science.
    • Knowledge of energy markets, renewable technologies, environmental policies, and more.
    • Proficient in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
