    If you are the type of person who likes it when every day is a little different, then read on because the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority (RTAA) is seeking a qualified candidate to join our hard-working Reno Airport team. The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority (RTAA) is in search of a qualified candidate with experience in construction and/or grounds maintenance to join our Airfield Maintenance team as an Airfield Technician I. The day-to-day in this role could include everything from plowing snow, to performing construction or maintenance, repairing a roadway, and inspecting the airfield for hazards or debris (well, that actually happens every day). You might also perform repairs on buildings, facilities, and parking lots, work on systems and related equipment, and we might as well include some semi-skilled carpentry, plumbing, roofing, painting, mechanical and electrical trade work. Now you're getting the idea…needless to say, the days fly by, the team is awesome, and the work is satisfying. Oh, and one more thing: this position is eligible for a $1000 sign on bonus . Sweet!

    There is one (1) position open; however, the list established may also be used to fill future vacancies as they occur. Both internal and external applicants will be considered. Applicants must be available to work all shifts (day, swing, and graveyard) 7 days a week - including holidays. To be considered for this position, applicants must indicate they are available for day, swing and night shifts (all three), and must check the appropriate boxes under availability on the RTAA online application. Shift assignments are generally determined by seniority using a Shift Bid System.

    This position is in a progressively staffed class series. The selected individual can advance through the series when the requisite knowledge and skills have been obtained.

    At the RTAA, our Airfield Technicians are key to helping keep the Reno-Tahoe International Airport and Reno-Stead Airport operational and safe for aircraft.     Key Accountabilities ** ​​​** ** :**

    Airfield Technician I Performs duties under close supervision and is the entry level in the series.

    • Perform carpentry, painting, building maintenance and custodial work involved in the repair and maintenance of airfield facilities.
    • Perform maintenance and repairs to asphalt and concrete pavements.
    • Assist in painting runways, taxiways, curbs, street, and parking facility markings.
    • Assist in sign fabrication and installation.
    • Maintain and repair security gates and fences.
    • Maintain landscaping by cutting and trimming grass, trees, and shrubs.
    • Clean grounds of wastepaper and debris; pick-up trash; empty trash dumpsters; operate cardboard bailer and compactor; keep airside and landside areas free of hazards and debris; support the RTAA recycling program.
    • Perform glycol recovery operations.
    • Perform minor repairs and maintenance on tools and equipment.
    • Operate light and heavy motorized construction equipment and power tools including snowplows, street sweepers, water trucks, dump trucks, front loaders, motor grader, backhoe, mowers, forklifts and air compressors, jackhammers, pavement sealing equipment; assists in excavating, landscaping, and demolition duties.
    • Participate in snow removal utilizing specialized equipment and hand tools.

    Entry Salary : $21.61 – $25.39 per hour based on experience, with opportunity for progression and annual step-based increases up to a range maximum of $31.05 per hour. In addition, employees working any hours between 6pm and 6am receive a shift differential of $2.40 per hour. Initial salary placement will be based upon experience and qualifications. This is an hourly and overtime eligible position.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Required Education: High School Diploma or equivalent certificate. An equivalent combination of experience and training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

    Required Experience: One (1) year of experience in construction, grounds maintenance or outside maintenance work in a commercial or industrial setting.

    Required Licensing: A valid driver's license is required at the time of application. The selected candidate will be required to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within in 12-months from the date of hire as a condition of continuing employment. ****
