    Job Title: Rental & Service Manager Location: Village Hardware – Leipsic, OH Job Type: Full-Time Reports To: Store Manager / Owner

Our Leipsic location offers a variety of rental equipment and repair services alongside hardware, tools, and outdoor living essentials. We're looking for a dependable, motivated, and customer-focused individual to lead our Rental & Service Department.

    Position Summary:

    The Rental & Service Manager oversees the daily operations of the rental and repair department. This role ensures that all rental equipment is maintained, repaired, and ready for customers, while providing excellent customer service and driving revenue through organized, efficient operations.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Manage all aspects of the rental department, including equipment availability, maintenance schedules, and customer transactions.

    Oversee service and repair operations for power equipment, tools, and other customer-owned items.

    Supervise, train, and schedule department staff, ensuring a high standard of performance and safety.

    Maintain accurate rental contracts, service records, and inventory tracking using our POS system.

    Ensure proper inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of equipment before and after each rental.

    Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with rental or customer equipment; perform or coordinate repairs as needed.

    Order necessary parts and supplies; manage vendor relationships for equipment and service support.

    Collaborate with store management to meet department sales and service goals.

    Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

    Qualifications:

    Previous experience in equipment rental, small engine repair, diesel repair, or service management preferred.

    Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills.

    Ability to lead and motivate a small team.

    Customer-first attitude with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

    Proficient with computers and point-of-sale systems.

    Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a busy environment.

    Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and work in a hands-on environment.

    Valid driver’s license required; forklift certification a plus.
