    Repair the World mobilizes Jews and their communities to take action to pursue a just world. We believe that service in support of social change is vital to a flourishing Jewish community and an inspired Jewish life. By 2030, Repair will inspire and catalyze one million acts of service towards repairing the world.

    Over the coming year, Repair the World will power a broad alliance of partner organizations and volunteers to create a national service initiative mobilizing tens of thousands of Jewish young adults and college students in 100,000 acts of meaningful service and learning to address the COVID-19 crisis. Based on an intensive planning process and ongoing evaluation of the COVID-19 pandemic, this initiative will combine virtual volunteering, in-person service, and time-bound service campaigns around specific issue areas, altogether mobilizing tens of thousands of volunteers to serve at nonprofit service partners in 15 cities across the country.

    POSITION OVERVIEW

    Serve the Moment is looking for a dynamic City Coordinator to lead and develop opportunities, training, and programming for a Jewish Service Alliance program in your city, which will include overseeing stipended Corps Members, young adults 18-29 who will spend 1-3 months in service in response to COVID-19, coordinating episodic service, and implementing national programmatic campaigns across your local community. 

    We are hiring a city coordinator in the Bay Area. This position would report to Repair's national Jewish Service Alliance team. This role will start full-time over the Summer with the option to be extended depending on funding.

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Identify, build, and sustain relationships with local Jewish organizations, civic and nonprofit communities, and nonprofits engaged with directly impacted communities for Corps Members placements, episodic service, and national campaigns.

    • Plan and execute volunteering and service learning programs; enact a robust and strategic calendar of programming, including service opportunities that match the needs of service partners and the target audience.

    • Oversee day to day operations of Corps Members with the goal of Corps Members becoming integrated service partners and reaching their volunteer engagement goals. 

    • Support local recruitment efforts and collaborate with local and national staff to grow episodic volunteers and cohorts of Corps Members for COVID-19 response. 

    • Track, measure, and report milestones and progress and accurate data collection into Repair's Salesforce system

    • In collaboration with the national program team, coordinate and facilitate weekly learning for Corps Members around issues of systemic injustice, Jewish values, volunteer mobilization, and management. 

    • In collaboration with the national program team, coordinate local episodic service and national campaign efforts.

     

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS

    •  2-3 years management/team leadership experience 

    • Field work & responsibilities required: traveling to partner organizations and participating in service learning opportunities while practicing local safety guidelines such as social distancing and wearing a mask . 

    • Demonstrated ability to assign priorities and time parameters and holds others accountable. 

    • Uses benchmarks and performance measures to track progress and intervenes to address barriers to achieving results 

    • Demonstrated success with building relationships with young adults and people with diverse backgrounds and experiences 

    • Strong experience in volunteer management including leading and developing service projects and events 

    • Sophisticated awareness of poverty, structural racism, power and privilege and ability to discuss these issues with diverse groups in ways that empower and open people to learning

    • A logistical wiz: Understands the small details that go into running a successful program, including supporting an end-to-end planning process

    • Ability to facilitate educational curriculums and service-learning

    • Resilient, flexible team player who is comfortable working both independently and collaboratively  

    • Understanding of data management and CRM 

    • Ability to work during evenings and weekends on a regular basis

    COMPENSATION

    The annual starting salary for this role is $58,500.  Benefits package includes paid time off for service in addition to vacation and holidays, employer pays 100% for employee medical/dental/vision coverage and 50% for dependents, retirement matching, and professional development funds. In addition, employees that have been with Repair for at least a year are eligible for 12 weeks of paid parental leave.
