PROGRAM OVERVIEW: REPAIR THE WORLD BOSTON

Repair the World mobilizes Jews and their communities to take action to pursue a just world. We believe that service in support of social change is vital to a flourishing Jewish community and an inspired Jewish life. By 2026, Repair will inspire and catalyze one million acts of service towards repairing the world.

Repair is building a national Jewish service movement that mobilizes young adults to serve in their communities, catalyzes service through deep partnerships within Jewish communal organizations, and inspires people to take action through time-bound thematic national service campaigns, digital engagement, and service. Our mission provides volunteers with an increased connection to meaningful service and learning as a Jewish value, builds capacity for nonprofit partners to meet their missions, and deepens connections across lines of difference.

Our Boston program launched in the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, initially starting with the Repair the World service corps.  Since that time, Repair the World Boston has grown, launching our fellowship program in the summer of 2022 and is excited to begin offering a full range of teen service opportunities in the year ahead. Repair the World Boston's work is done in deep partnership with the local federation, Combined Jewish Philanthropies (CJP).

POSITION OVERVIEW

Repair the World is seeking a Boston Teen Program Associate. The associate will work under Repair the World Boston's City Director and in partnership with the Repair the World Boston team. The associate will manage timely and relevant communication with the teens and their families, synagogues and community partners, and lead programming regularly. 

The successful candidate will be a flexible self-starter who excels at building relationships with teens, has a proven ability to manage, and facilitate service learning, is skilled at teaching and building community and is excited about leading innovative programming to engage teens in meaningful ways and to respond to the needs of marginalized and vulnerable neighbors.

The Teen Associate's responsibilities include the following: 

• Hold portfolio of relationships with Jewish synagogues, schools, and organizations that support teens across Boston
• Communicate regularly and maintain ongoing relationships with a portfolio of service partners; engage in ongoing needs assessment in order to plan programs accordingly
• Design, host and lead at least two service projects per month during the school year (September-June)
• Recruit teens from diverse backgrounds and experiences to participate in programming 
• Maintain user data and apply it to inform engagement strategies 
• Assess the needs of the Boston Jewish teen community for summer service opportunities; ultimately launch teen service summer opportunities (July-August)
• Collaborate with Boston team, enhancing Repair's footprint in Boston
• Serve as the go-to person for all service opportunities for youth within the Repair the World Boston community
• Collaborate and actively work in partnership with CJP's teen staff team

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

• Excellent facilitator of educational programming and service learning for teens
• Direct youth management experience 
• Proven ability to connect with Jewish youth, families, and people with diverse backgrounds and experiences
• Training and experience in education, especially informal and experiential
• Sophisticated awareness of poverty, structural racism, power and privilege and ability to discuss these issues with diverse groups in ways that empower and open people to learning 
• Understanding of and strong commitment to volunteerism and service best practices
• Ability to apply lessons learned in real time, and to course-correct accordingly
• Deep familiarity with Boston neighborhoods

COMPENSATION 

This is a ¾ time position with a starting salary of $42,000, pro-rated from $56,000 for full time. This position is fully benefits eligible and will begin as soon as possible. 

The benefits package includes retirement matching, professional development funds, and paid time off for service in addition to generous vacation/sick leave, holidays, and 16 weeks of paid parental leave. Repair the World pays 100% for employee medical/dental/vision coverage and 50% for dependents.

APPLICATION PROCESS

The process for the hired applicant will include:

• Submit a Resume and answer the questionnaire.
• Applicants moved forward will continue on to a first round interview with a member of Repair's People and Culture team.
• Applicants who are moved to a second round will interview with Repair's Boston City Director. 
• Two professional references will be requested before the final round of the interview process.
