The News Associate Program is a 24-month high intensity program designed to develop entry-level media professionals. Participants in the program will work in a fast-paced newsroom within one of NBCUniversal’s Local Stations. This program is an accelerated opportunity for professionals with Broadcast Communications or Journalism degrees and/or a minimum of six months of experience within a professional newsroom. The program will include a significant investment in training and coaching from some of the industry’s best. The right candidate will learn the skills necessary to develop into a successful reporter , while experiencing the ultimate thrill of a newsroom.
This position encompasses real world training on news gathering and preparing content for presentation on air, on social, digital and streaming. The ideal candidate for this role would have some experience as an MMJ and on social media. The right candidate for this role is hungry to learn how to cover the lead story and breaking news. They should also want to improve their ability to pitch well thought out enterprise content and how to succeed on deadline. A reporter trainee at KXAS/KXTX has the opportunity to work with some of the best photographers and producers in the country, so the ability to collaborate is a must. They must also be willing to deepen their knowledge of NBC’s legal and standards. In addition, they would take an active role in learning how to work in a duopoly environment and how to contribute to content on both KXAS and KXTX.

Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
