Job Overview:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Reporting Analyst to join our finance team. This role focuses on the preparation of accounting and finance reports, supporting the optimization of the close process and analytics activities. The Reporting Analyst will primarily assist in automating data processes, ensuring reporting data accuracy, and helping to streamline. This role will also assist in closing activities (e.g. inventory closing, gross margin review, journal entries and reconciliations). This position is ideal for someone with experience in financial reporting or data analytics, who is eager to develop their skills and contribute to financial reporting activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting Support: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial data.
- Close Process Support: Work closely with the accounting team to prepare close reports.
- Dashboards for Close Monitoring: Support the development and maintenance of dashboards to track account reconciliations, manual journal entries, close progress, and identifying any issues or delays that need attention.
- Data Integration & Automation: Use tools like Power Query and other analytics platforms to automate routine financial reporting processes and improve data consistency.
- Variance Analysis Support: Assist in performing variance analysis and reviewing financial results to identify discrepancies or trends that require further investigation.
- Manual Journal Entries: Help ensure the accurate and timely posting of manual journal entries into the general ledger.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with various departments (IT, accounting, FP&A, Treasury, etc) to ensure financial data and business requirements are integrated effectively across systems.
- Continuous Improvement: Help identify opportunities to improve reporting by supporting the implementation of best practices and new tools or technologies.
- Compliance & Control Support: Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies, assisting in maintaining audit readiness.
Qualifications:
- Proven Experience: 1-2 years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, or a related field, with a focus on data analytics or financial reporting.
- Technical Expertise: Basic proficiency in Power Query and other advanced analytics automation tools (e.g., Alteryx, Power BI). Familiarity with data automation and reporting tools is a plus.
- Dashboard Development: Experience in creating financial dashboards to monitor the close processes or key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Reconciliation & Journal Entries: Exposure to account reconciliations and posting manual journal entries in a general ledger system.
- Financial Close Process Knowledge: Basic understanding of financial close processes and the importance of accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness in reporting.
- Financial Systems Integration: Some experience with integrating financial data across systems or platforms is a plus.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and present data to non-financial stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and the ability to spot discrepancies and inconsistencies in financial data.
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Tools & Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with Power BI and Alteryx. Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with cloud-based financial platforms and analytics tools.
- Exposure to data science techniques or machine learning models for financial data analysis is a plus.
- Knowledge of accounting standards such as US GAAP or IFRS is helpful.
