    About the Role:

    Join Danimer Scientific LLC as a Research & Product Development Technician, where you'll play a crucial role in advancing sustainable biopolymer solutions.     Position Summary

    We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Research & Product Development Technician to operate equipment for compounding polymer resins. This role supports both experimental product development under varied process conditions and production of commercial-grade samples for customer evaluation. The successful candidate will work closely with R&D scientists, process engineers, and product managers to translate laboratory concepts into scalable, market-ready materials.

    Key Responsibilities

    Extruder Operation

    Set up, operate, and monitor extrusion equipment to produce polymer resin compounds according to experimental designs or customer specifications.

    Process & Product Development

    Assist in experimental trials by following test plans and adjusting process conditions as required.

    Sample Production & Handling

    Produce and package commercial sample quantities for customer trials.

    Quality & Safety

    Perform basic quality checks (e.g., melt flow, moisture content, color, pellet size) on produced materials.

    Collaboration

    Work with R&D chemists, polymer scientists, and manufacturing engineers to scale up new products.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in plastics, polymers, or mechanical systems preferred.

    Experience operating extrusion or compounding equipment.

    Mechanical aptitude with the ability to adjust and maintain processing equipment.

    Strong attention to detail and recordkeeping skills.

    Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.

    Preferred:

    Associate degree in Polymer Technology, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering Technology, or related field.

    Experience in R&D or pilot plant environments.

    Familiarity with polymer compounding, additives, and testing methods.

    Work Environment

    Pilot-scale production and lab setting with occasional exposure to manufacturing floor environments.

    Handling of hot equipment, resins, and powders is required; PPE provided.
