    Job Description

    Telemundo is seeking dynamic, detail-oriented researchers to join our Spanish-language coverage team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This role is pivotal in supporting live studio and remote programming, requiring strong editorial judgment, quick decision-making, and seamless collaboration with the entire production team.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop, compile and circulate information on key storylines, teams and players ahead of and during the 2026 FIFA World Cup
    • Maintain the highest standards of accuracy and integrity for all on-air content.
    • Be a constructive teammate by working with line producers, segment producers and associate producers to develop story ideas, gather story-related research, and fact check scripts (both pre-produced and live broadcast).
    • Support producers prior to shows, and provide accurate, on-the-spot information during broadcasts in various capacities, including in studios and control rooms.
    • Contribute actively to production and editorial meetings.
    • Create and write daily research and story memos for production teams and on-air talent.
    • Respond promptly to specific research requests from the team.
    • Become an expert on FIFA World Cup stories, players, rules, results, and history

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Basic Requirements:

    • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English.
    • At least one (1) year of experience in sports journalism or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
    • Submission of writing samples demonstrating journalistic ability.
    • Excellent writing skills and proven editorial judgment.
    • Strong commitment to accuracy and detail.
    • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
    • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Deep understanding of the international soccer landscape.
    • Demonstrated excellence in soccer television production or equivalent experience.
    • Experience providing sports information for on-air broadcasters.
    • Versatile, self-motivated, energetic, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
    • Strong background in journalism, ideally as a senior writer or editor at a college or professional daily newspaper or top-tier magazine.
    • Experience in news gathering and/or studio production.
    • Proficiency with various research sources and methods.

    Additional Requirements:

    • ** (NBCU Jobs)** Hybrid : This position has been designated as hybrid, which currently requires contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week. Beginning January 5, 2026, hybrid employees will be required to work from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time
