    Job Description

    AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Resident Engineer for immediate employment in San Diego, CA.

    The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

    • Serve as the project lead in the field, overseeing the construction management staff on rail-related projects.
    • Ensure successful delivery of the project and implementation of project plans and specifications.
    • Act as the main point of contact for the client, maintaining clear and consistent communication throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Coordinate with various stakeholders, including Metrolink, UPRR, SANDAG, BNSF, NCTD, SBCTA, and LA Metro, to ensure project compliance with their respective standards and requirements.
    • Manage and mentor the project team, assigning tasks, and providing guidance to ensure efficient project execution.
    • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor construction progress, quality, and safety compliance.
    • Review and approve contractor submittals, RFIs, and change orders in a timely manner.
    • Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, progress photos, and meeting minutes.
    • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate project risks and resolve conflicts.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations, as well as railroad-specific safety standards.
    • Manage project budget and schedule, identifying and addressing potential issues proactively.
    • Facilitate effective communication between the design team, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
    • Participate in project meetings and provide regular updates to senior management and clients.
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of construction management processes and best practices within the organization.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements

    • BA/BS + 10 years or more of relatable or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership
    • California PE License
    • Experience as Construction Manager or Resident Engineer on public works rail projects with construction value $20M+
    • Experience working with Metrolink, UPRR, SANDAG, BNSF, NCTD, SBCTA, and/or LA Metro
    • Excellent Communication Skills
    • Experience overseeing a project staff.
    • Strong understanding of railroad standards and specifications
    • Ability to obtain railroad specific required safety training
    • Experience writing and negotiating change orders
    • Experience with dispute resolution and claims

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Railroad Grade Separation Experience
    • Existing relationships with railroad entities in Southern California
    • Technical Writing skills
    • Experience in pursuit interviews as key staff
