Overview
The Residential AV Technician works both independently and as part of a team to install and configure home automation, audio/video, and related systems in residential environments. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality workmanship, maintaining professionalism on-site, and ensuring client satisfaction. The Residential AV Technician has a solid working knowledge of AV systems and installation techniques and is motivated to continue learning and advancing within the company.
Job Responsibilities
Install, connect, and configure AV systems including speakers, TVs, projectors, home theaters, and distributed audio/video systems
Run and terminate low voltage cabling for AV, network, and control systems
Mount TVs, racks, and other system hardware safely and cleanly
Complete system setup and testing to ensure functionality and performance
Perform basic troubleshooting of installed systems
Assist with lighting, shading, surveillance, and security installations under guidance
Maintain project documentation and report daily progress to the Project Manager
Collaborate with senior technicians and other team members to complete installations efficiently
Exhibit professionalism, cleanliness, and excellent customer service on every job site
Follow company safety and quality standards at all times
Continue to develop knowledge through training, certifications, and hands-on experience
Job Requirements (or Comparable Experience)
Minimum 2–3 years of AV field experience
High school diploma or GED
Basic understanding of control systems (Control4, RTI, URC, Savant, etc.) preferred
PCNA or comparable networking certification a plus
Strong understanding of AV components, signal flow, and connectivity
Ability to read and follow wiring diagrams, floor plans, and scopes of work
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Detail-oriented and organized; able to manage multiple tasks effectively
Strong problem-solving skills and initiative in the field
Must maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and work on ladders, lifts, and at elevated heights
Clean background check and drivers check required
