Position: Residential Counselor – Direct Support Professional (DSP) Location: Owings Mills, MD (Multiple sites across Baltimore County) Compensation: $18.00 per hour (set rate; not subject to negotiation) Work Setting: In-Person | Group Homes
Shift Availability:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Weekend shifts: 7:00 AM – 11:00 PM
Overnight shifts: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Friday & Saturday overnight: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Coverage Areas
Owings Mills, Reisterstown, Randallstown, Towson, and Baltimore City/County. Assignment to work locations may vary based on program and operational needs.
Position Overview
The Residential Counselor (DSP) provides direct support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential group home setting. This role focuses on supporting daily living activities, promoting independence, ensuring health and safety, and maintaining compliance with DDA and program requirements.
Essential Job Duties
Provide hands-on assistance with activities of daily living, including hygiene, meals, medication administration, and mobility
Support individuals in developing independence through skill-building and structured routines
Provide emotional and behavioral support in accordance with individualized support plans
Assist with community outings, recreational activities, and appointments
Complete required daily documentation, incident reports, and health-related records accurately and timely
Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and family supports
Transport individuals to appointments or activities as required
Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful home environment
Flexibility Required: Staff must be willing and able to work across multiple residential locations as operational needs require.
Minimum Qualifications:
At least one (1) year of experience in direct care, mental health, or a related human services field
Must be at least 21 years of age
Reliable transportation and access to a personal vehicle
Ability to support individuals with behavioral and/or medical needs
Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
Ability to remain professional, calm, and respectful in all situations
Professional-level proficiency in English (verbal and written) to ensure accurate documentation and communication
Required Certifications (Must Be Valid at Time of Interview)
CPR & First Aid
MANDT
Certified Medication Technician (CMT)
DDA Required Trainings (including online modules)
Bloodborne Pathogens
Sexual Abuse / Sexual Harassment Prevention Training
