Position Summary:

The Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment within a residential treatment facility. This role supports the overall health and wellness of clients and staff by ensuring high standards of cleanliness in all common areas, resident rooms, bathrooms, offices, and treatment areas.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform routine cleaning of floors, windows, walls, and furniture in common and clinical areas.

Sanitize restrooms, showers, and kitchen areas daily using appropriate disinfectants.

Collect and dispose of trash and biohazard materials according to facility protocols.

Refill supplies such as soap, toilet paper, and paper towels in public and staff restrooms.

Maintain cleaning logs and ensure compliance with infection control standards.

Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the supervisor promptly.

Sweep and rinse outdoor common areas, wipe down outdoor furniture, daily setup and storage of outdoor furniture and umbrellas

Follow protocols for handling hazardous materials and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Support deep cleaning efforts during outbreaks or as part of routine facility maintenance.

Interact professionally and respectfully with clients and staff, maintaining appropriate boundaries.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Previous janitorial or custodial experience in healthcare or residential settings preferred.

Knowledge of safe cleaning practices, including use of chemicals and disinfectants.

Ability to work independently and follow written and verbal instructions.

Must be able to pass background check and adhere to facility confidentiality policies.

Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.

Work Environment: This position works indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to biohazards, cleaning chemicals, and clients with behavioral or medical challenges. The janitor must maintain professionalism and adhere to safety and confidentiality standards at all times.
