As the Software Engineering Manager, you will leverage your technical and management experience to lead multiple teams (both on-site and remote employees) of seasoned engineers in a fast-paced Agile environment. You will provide technical leadership and be responsible for the professional growth and development of engineers. You will also provide direct mentoring, coaching, and career development to a group of software engineers to improve their skills while also handling general HR management responsibilities. Additionally, you will:
- Manage a group of Software Engineers spread across multiple Scrum teams
- Work with group members to develop their skills and competencies in line with the
- organizational needs and employee career interests
- Collaborate with the Engineering leadership team, including other managers of software engineering, to establish best practices for engineering teams
- Identify and drive organizational change as part of the engineering leadership team
- Contribute to the products via architecture, code reviews, and sometimes hands on development and operations
- Coach team members on a daily basis, set goals, and conduct performance reviews
- Be responsible for the overall planning, execution, and success of complex technical projects in an Agile process
- Work closely with product management teams to influence road map and drive organizational change
- Have a deep understanding of how our platform and client solutions are built
- Implement a technical strategy that ensures future success of your products and teams
- Be a decision maker around software architecture best practices, including scalability, performance, availability, maintainability, extensibility, and security
- Cultivate a culture of API, cloud services, and micro services across the organization
What You’ll Need to be Successful:
- At least 8 years of experience developing software, .NET preferred
- At least 2 years of experience managing others, including hiring responsibility
- At least five years of experience in software engineering building API’s and distributed systems
- At least 2 years of experience with Agile/Scrum software development processes and a strong understanding of Agile/Scrum practices and methodology
- Demonstrated experience leading software development teams
- Excellent technical communications skills
- Experience building and maintaining SaaS applications, ideally using the AWS platform
- Technical and operational understanding of distributed systems at scale (monitoring,
- deployment, alerting)
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher, and similar
