As the Senior Director of Architecture, you will be responsible for technical strategy, planning, setting requirements, and delivering for our platform that provides turn-key strategy, tools, and infrastructure for commercial software application teams. You will drive platform vision and strategy and partner with P&L product managers, technical experts, and product management across business segments (Digital & Electronics, Freight, Freight Services, Transit) to deliver on roadmap and product lifecycle. You will also partner with engineering, commercial, and market development to establish and implement solutions and architecture roadmap. Additionally, you will:
- Provide cross functional leadership to define and execute the vision and strategy to ensure the platform meets the needs of the business while being cost effective and evergreen
- Demonstrate mastery of the intricacies of interactions and dynamics in Agile teams and ensure consistent, effective rhythms for Agile and Lean start-up rituals and artifacts
- Participate in events and industry associations to influence the direction for the business and technology
- Work with Customers and Partners to establish and deliver requirements
- Review and/or analyze and develop architectural requirements at domain level, aligning architectural requirements with software development strategy
- Lead teams in developing plans and assessing improvement options
What You’ll Need to be Successful:
- At least 15 years of technical experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or another STEM major
- Ability and willingness to travel internationally
- Thought leadership in software design practices and coding best practices such as 12-factor application principles and OWASP
- Thought leadership in cloud, cloud native applications, and application platforms
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (Cassandra, Mongo, Couchbase)
- Expertise in cloud technologies such as Kubernetes and CI/CD
- Experience planning architecture for modernizing and refactoring legacy applications
- Experience working in complex organizations with Agile practices such as SAFe
- Experience leading enterprise strategy development, including environmental analysis, opportunity identification, value cases, and business innovation portfolio development
- Strong experience with mission critical application and infrastructure operations and ITIL processes
- Strong influencing skills to deliver results in a highly matrixed and global environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
