SUMMARY:
Assist the Quarry team in meeting present and future feed stone requirements for the plant. This involves careful monitoring and control of quarry ore production and blending in order to provide plant with a consistent quality feed as well as utilize the mineral resources to their maximum potential by minimizing waste. Contribute to the coordination of quarry activities with contractors and staff to ensure that efficient production and development are completed safely and in accordance with both short and long-term plans in order to maintain adequate supplies of quality plant feed ores at minimum cost.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with monitoring of quarry operations to ensure that quarry development plans are being followed.
- Monitor plant quality control results as they relate to feed stone selection and blending, ore processing, and maintenance of consistent feed stone to the plant.
- Conduct monitoring and reporting (jointly with Environmental, Health & Safety Managers) associated with quarry permit conditions and regulatory requirements. Lead the promotion of safety awareness and compliance.
- Monitor and track quarry production and development volumes as well as costs and associated budgets.
- Maintain and update quarry geologic maps and cross-sections and assist with revision of geologic model as needed.
- Maintain and update quarry production and development maps and cross-sections for economic quarry planning.
- Support maintenance and updating of developed quarry reserves for quarry development planning.
- Provide technical assistance for quarry permit applications as required.
- Assist in exploration and evaluation of potential extensions of existing quarry reserves for long-term future quarry development planning.
- Oversee logging and reclamation contractors as part of overall quarry development and progressive reclamation program.
- Update stockpile inventories as needed by accounting department.
- Annual maintenance of mining claims including claim staking, assessment work, filing of documents with government agencies.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A university degree in geology or similar, with at least 2 years of practical experience in open pit quarry operations.
- Advanced capacity to use Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and Mine Planning and Resource Management computer software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to work both as a member of a team and independently are required.
- Sound knowledge of geology and grade control methodology including database software.
