  • Responsibilities

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist & support operations through project financial analysis and capital budgeting.
    • Assist in developing and maintaining short and long term mining plan as necessary.
    • Conduct underground ventilation surveys.
    • Ground control:
    1. Make sure standards are implemented
    2. Follow up with daily logs and enter data in the database system.
    3.  Set daily plans for back check program.
    4.  Furnish approved plans.
    5.  Populate a monthly hand scaling and mechanically scaling map.
    6.  Data analysis and evaluation.
    • Support surveying and mapping activities.
    • Ensure compliance with MSHA, Company and QC/QA requirements.
    • Develop ideas to improve profitability through cost savings and new opportunities.
    • Support Production and Maintenance through development, initiation and completion of efficiency enhancement related projects.
    • Support the EHS Department with engineering/safety-related projects.

    Preferred Education and/or Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering.
    • 0-3 years of underground mining environment experience.
    • Possess good background on ventilation and ground control.
    • Demonstrate excellent computer, communication and writing skills.
    • Demonstrate software proficiency with AutoCAD.
    • Underground surveying and mapping.
    • Supervisory experience is a plus.
    • Project management will be plus.
    • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before management.
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
