    JOB DESCRIPTION 

    Resource Innovations is seeking an OUTREACH SPECIALIST to serve a growing Midwest territory. This individual will be responsible for creating customer connections, generating leads, recruiting program participants, and continuously improving marketing and recruiting strategies.

    The Outreach & Marketing Specialist proactively develops relationships with sites and vendors that are within the northern Illinois electric utility territory. This includes recruiting new program participants by promoting our services, painting the picture of how utilizing these programs will benefit them, and making participation easy.

    Travel is anticipated for this role approximately 20% - 30% of the time, consisting of primarily of day trips.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    ·       Lead efforts to enroll customers into energy efficiency programs within northern Illinois electric utility territory. 

    ·       Perform initial steps of sales processes by identifying target customers, qualifying their fit for efficiency programs, and conducting outreach to discover client’s motivation for energy efficiency improvements.

    ·       Present utility program solutions to customers, including operators, engineers, and executives, with the assistance of technical outreach engineers.

    ·       Support marketing efforts by: performing market research into key accounts in target industrial sectors, evaluating marketing channels such as trade associations and conferences, assessing market and customer needs, and identifying influencers.

    ·       Collaborate with marketing personnel from our utility partners, client organizations, Resource Innovations contractors, and utility partner organizations to develop program marketing materials.

    ·       Data management related to marketing and sales activities, using SharePoint and Salesforce.

    OUTREACH:

    ·       Understand the industrial environment and have experience in technical sales, account/client management, or business development.

    ·       Enjoy building and leveraging networks by communicating effectively with a broad audience ranging from executives to equipment operators.

    ·       Pay close attention to customer “care-abouts” and have proven ability to build trusting, long-term, professional relationships.

    ·       Understand financial influences of project financial metrics and how products & services projects are “sold” to upper management.

    ·       Possess persuasive skills and have experience engaging both challenging and enthusiastic potential customers.

    ·       Apply exceptional problem-solving skills while remaining flexible.

    ·       Have experience working with a CRM platform.

    MARKETING SUPPORT:

    ·       Have experience promoting and/or selling products or working closely with sales representatives in a marketing function.

    ·       Have experience creating and managing marketing plans to organize and prioritize marketing activities, connecting goals to audiences, strategies, and tactics.

    ·       Have experience creating and writing content to promote programs/services to clients, including fliers, email copy, and webinar content.

    ·       Can collaborate with client and partner marketing departments to launch marketing content.

    ·       Possess strong MS Word skills.

    ·       Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, or similar graphics programs, desired.

    OVERALL:

    ·       Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills; the ability to multitask and work with deadlines is critical.

    ·       Proactively and independently identifying opportunities to improve systems and tools and developing effective solutions. 

    ·       Experience and skill in working with multiple managers and ability to juggle multiple, sometimes concurrent priorities.

    ·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with both internal and external customers.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    ·       Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field.

    ·       A minimum of 4 years of practical experience in a business‐to‐business environment, including the coordination and support of the proposal submission process.

    ·       Knowledge of, and exposure to, utility or government agency environment is preferred.
