    Job Description

    A global construction & engineering firm has a need for a Construction Safety Representative with experience in general commercial & industrial construction including demolition activities, dealing with tearing down buildings on public works projects, and asbestos / lead abatement experience to join their Los Angeles based team. This position requires prior relevant experience within heavy civil / industrial construction and demolition and/or public works projects. This position works with general supervision conducting safety audits and inspections, develops and implements safety programs and policies, and evaluates and ensures improvement for job site safety. Works with the Superintendents and Project Managers to administer, direct, and implement compliance with the Corporate Safety and Health policies and procedures to ensure the achievement of Company standard operating procedures and goals for Safety and Health.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Coordinates worksite safety activities.
    • Reports on a daily/weekly basis to the Safety Manager regarding the status of safety inspections.
    • Advises senior project manager and corporate management team on safety issues.
    • Runs and discusses safety issues daily in site meetings and staff meetings.
    • Analyzes worksite safety needs.
    • Enforce safety guidelines, standards, and best practices.
    • Timely investigation of injuries and accidents and coordinates with Safety Manager and/or Risk Management take pictures and witness statements.
    • Conducts job hazard analyses, prepares and submits daily activity/near miss/etc reports.
    • Establishes and maintains a good working relationship with field management.
    • Conducts safety inspections and audits, worksite inspections.
    • Enforces documentation on the proper training of employees as related to their scope of work.
    • Work in a team environment where giving and receiving constructive feedback is encouraged
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications/Training/Education Required:

    • Extensive experience with a construction environment
    • 2 to 4 years in the hazardous waste industry or related work experience preferred
    • 5+ years in a problem-solving capacity preferred
    • Must be able to work in an outdoor environment on the jobsite
    • Should possess basic Industrial hygiene best practices
    • Ability to climb stairs ladders and scaffolding
    • Work the hours need to complete daily and weekly tasks
    • Working knowledge and ability to handle and operate test equipment and adhere to safety requirements
    • Strong written and verbal skills (eg. report writing); some public speaking
    • Current 40-hour Hazwoper/8 hour refresher required
    • CHST or better required
    • Asbestos and Lead Awareness training preferred
    • OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 preferred
    • Valid Driver’s License
    • Prior to employment, this position will require the successful passing of a physical and drug screen and a 7-year background check.
