Job Title: Restaurant Junior Accountant
Location: Staten Island, NY
Type: Full-Time | On-Site
A well-established, high-volume hospitality group in Staten Island is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to support the financial operations of its upscale restaurant venue. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, a keen understanding of restaurant or hospitality operations, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Assist with day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
Track and reconcile daily sales, tips, deposits, credit card batches, and cash variances.
Support the preparation of monthly financial statements, balance sheets, and P&L reports.
Monitor vendor invoices and statements to ensure timely and accurate payments.
Maintain organized records of payroll, invoices, and financial documents in compliance with company policy and audit standards.
Help manage inventory and cost control data, including food, beverage, and supply purchases.
Reconcile POS system reports with accounting software entries.
Assist with processing payroll data and coordinating with HR/payroll vendors.
Provide support during audits and end-of-year reporting.
Collaborate with restaurant managers and the executive team to resolve discrepancies and ensure financial accuracy.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or currently pursuing).
1–2 years of accounting experience; hospitality or restaurant accounting is strongly preferred.
Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Restaurant365, or similar).
Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data validation).
High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Knowledge of POS systems, inventory, and payroll processes is a plus.
