Chickadees in Houghton is searching for a new Retail Manager. Our current Manager has been with us for over 14 years and is leaving for us for the best of reasons. The transition to a new Manager will begin within 30 days of hiring.
If you like Chickadees, you will love working here. The owners want an enthusiastic person who loves the retail business like they do. Retail experience is a plus but extraordinary friendliness, creativity, and commitment to getting the job done mean even more. The owners are looking for a person who enjoys shopping in a store like Chickadees and wants to work in a fast-paced fun environment. The Retail Manager’s responsibilities are focused on customer service, merchandise display, order processing, and overall store appearance. They do not include payroll, deposits and paying bills.
The Retail Manager’s weekly commitment could vary from 25 to 40 hours depending on the time of year, experience, and other staff availability. All possibilities can be considered. Our scheduling flexibility is quite unique. If you have the work ethic required to run a store and great references from past work, we would like to discuss the range of possibilities for becoming our next manager.

· Flexible availability including weekends and holidays as needed.
The Manager will be involved with the constant review of new merchandise sources and products. The Manager will eventually be responsible for reordering merchandise and all aspects of processing orders. The Manager will accompany the Owners to at least one buying trade show a year in January.
The Manager is involved in all aspects of marketing including events such as the Fall Fashion Show, In Store Tastings, and special merchandise promotions.
Responsibilities
· Oversee daily retail operations including merchandise order processing
· Ensure that every customer is greeted and provided outstanding service.
· Manage and train staff as well as creating monthly work schedules.
· Work with merchandise vendors to place orders and deal with complications.
· Create engaging visual displays to enhance the shopping experience and promote products.
· Foster a customer-centric environment by actively responding to customer inquiries and concerns.
· Coordinate with Marquette Chickadees on merchandise needs and supplies.
