About Deer Run Winery
Deer Run Winery is a family‑owned farm winery located on the west side of beautiful Conesus Lake in Geneseo, NY. Established in 2003, we are the oldest operating winery on Conesus Lake and proudly cultivate a 5‑acre estate vineyard featuring hybrid varieties such as Traminette, Noiret, Vidal, Corot Noir, and more. Our mission is to craft quality wines, create memorable guest experiences, and continue the legacy of a true New York farm winery.
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated, organized, and people‑focused Manager to oversee daily operations and support the continued growth of our winery. This role blends hospitality, leadership, administration, and creativity — ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys being part of a close‑knit team.
The Manager will work closely with ownership to ensure smooth operations, exceptional customer service, and consistent brand representation across all channels.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resources & Staff Leadership
Oversee hiring, onboarding, training, and staff development
Manage scheduling, shift coverage, and daily team communication
Support a positive, collaborative work environment
Administrative & Financial Duties
Process payroll and maintain accurate HR records
Complete daily sales and operational reports
Handle banking tasks, deposits, and financial tracking
Sales, Marketing & Guest Experience
Lead tasting room operations and customer service standards
Manage wine club communications, membership growth, and shipments
Oversee social media content, engagement, and brand voice
Support retail sales, upselling, and product knowledge training
Events & Winery Programming
Create, plan, and implement winery events
Coordinate logistics, staffing, and execution
Provide on‑site support during events, including weekends and evenings as needed
Schedule
This position requires weekend availability. Typical schedule: Thursday–Monday, 10 AM–6 PM Days off: Tuesday & Wednesday Hours may shift based on event needs.
Qualifications
Prior experience in hospitality, retail management, or winery operations preferred
Strong leadership and communication skills
Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast‑paced environment
Comfortable with administrative duties, reporting, and basic financial tasks
Bachelor's degree preferred in Sales, Business Management, Hospitality & Tourism, or combined experience
Social media proficiency (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
Passion for wine, agriculture, and guest experience
