Retail Counter associate
POSITION START DATE AFTER JULY 20th!!
The Range in McKinney is a family-owned indoor shooting range, and we are seeking a Retail Counter Associate and Event Manager who is 21 years old or older. If you have excellent people and customer service skills and enjoy working in a retail environment, we would like to hear from you. You must be able to work a flexible schedule (weekends, weekdays and some holidays), 30+ hours per week, and have reliable transportation. Candidate will have the ability to multi-task, take care of members/guests quickly and efficiently, and work without direction. Also, this position is one where you handle firearms on a regular basis. This is not a position where you will work inside a live fire range, this is the retail and customer service area of The Range. Also, this is not a position for someone who just "loves firearms" or wants to break into the gun world. This position makes sure our members and guests are assigned lanes and checked out accurately and efficiently.
This position is a combination of a retail counter associate and an event manager. Our events may be a simple family celebration all the way up to a full range rental with food. A primary part of this job is working the retail counter. Experience in retail, events or working in a restaurant is beneficial. Full job descriptions below.
Job details
Hourly pay $16 - $17 an hour
Up to 35 hours per week YOU MUST BE 21 YEARS OLD!

Job Description:
The Retail Sales Associate will be responsible for the following duties:
Greet members and guests
Perform sales transactions using a computerized point of sale system
Assign shooting lanes – coordinate range traffic
Assist with firearm rental(s)
Assist members/guests in choosing a new or rental firearm – once trained
4473 and NICS Background check process - once trained
Answer phone calls
Sell ammunition, memberships, classes and merchandise
Communicate safety requirements to members and guests – once trained
Perform opening and closing tasks
Be willing to learn about the firearms industry
Be responsible for the retail area
Keep the retail inventory in order
Be able to work an event when needed
Additional duties as needed but always within reason
Can say “NO” when necessary.
Event Manager
Ensure proper staffing for various events
Coordinate with caterers, restaurants, and outside vendors
Coordinate scheduling
Monitor event
All staff will be subject to a background check. If you cannot purchase a firearm legally in the US, you should not apply. Drug tests and lead level tests will also be performed.
What are we looking for?
An individual willing to learn about and enjoy working around the sport of shooting. We want someone who is hardworking, honest and friendly to members and guests but also to your fellow associates. This is a no-woke environment, and candidates are expected to come to work and perform their job duties. We don’t need any drama llamas, nor do we want someone who is going to cause problems. We are a team who works together to assure our members/guests are well taken care of. You must be able to say “no” when needed. If you have retail or customer service experience but are lacking when it comes to firearms, no worries. We can train you. Lastly, you must be 21 years old.
