    Company Background: Whitley's Peanut Factory, founded in 1986, is family-owned and operated in Hayes, VA. Our company has been built from the ground up; based on outstanding customer service, positive & loyal employees, as well as superior & time-tested product offerings! Our Williamsburg Store opened in 1989 as the company’s 2nd retail location, and has a strong & loyal customer base; with plenty of support from locals and tourists who frequently visit the area. As such, we are looking for positive, highly driven employees, with strong customer service skills to staff what continues to be a thriving & exciting spot for our business!

    Job Summary

    We are seeking a friendly and hard-working Cashier to join our team! As a Cashier, you will ring up sales, take payments, and issue receipts. You will provide excellent customer service by ensuring all transactions run smoothly. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in customer service and knowledge of cash register operation.

    Qualified applicants MUST possess the following:

    • At least 1 year of experience in Retail and a related Customer Service field.

    • Must be at least 18 years of age.

    • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

    • Must have reliable transportation.

    • Must be a responsible, self-starter, & able to work well with others.

    • Must be able to bend, stand, & lift for extended periods.

    • Must be able to lift and carry at least 35 lbs safely.

    • Must be able to multi-task well, pay attention to detail, be willing to ask and answer questions, and learn to upsell; all while focusing on service to our customers.

    • Must be interested in working at least 3+ days per week, and able to work evening hours (as needed) & some weekends.

    • Must be available to work the entire Holiday Season (October to early January) except the following:

    Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.

    Responsibilities

    Greet each customer with a smile and actively assist while they are shopping.

    Work the register to ring up sales and complete transactions

    Collect payments by cash and credit card

    Issue receipts and refunds to customers

    Participate in product promotion events and initiatives to drive sales

    Maintain a solid knowledge of product inventory to assist customers with their selections

    Qualifications

    High School Diploma or equivalent

    Understanding of sales techniques and best practices in customer service

    Willingness to work well in a team environment

    Ability to quickly and accurately work a register

    Willingness to work a flexible schedule
