More Than a Retail Job Hufford’s Jewelry is seeking a personable, conscientious, and relationship-driven sales professional to join our team. We are a third-generation, family-owned St. Louis jewelry store built on exceptional service, lasting relationships, and an unwavering commitment to doing things the right way. Our showroom offers the quality and sophistication of a luxury jewelry store, but our atmosphere is friendly, welcoming, and refreshingly low-pressure. At Hufford’s, we hire personality first. Jewelry knowledge can be taught. The natural ability to connect with people, earn their trust, follow through on commitments, and make every customer feel genuinely valued is much harder to teach. This is not simply another retail position. It is an opportunity to build a meaningful, long-term career in the fine jewelry industry and become the person customers proudly call “my jeweler.” Responsibilities: As a Fine Jewelry Sales Professional, you will: Assist customers with fine jewelry purchases in a knowledgeable, consultative, and low-pressure manner Develop lasting client relationships and build a personal book of business Proactively follow up with clients by telephone, email, and text Help customers select jewelry for engagements, weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, graduations, and other meaningful moments Guide customers through custom-design projects and special orders Accurately receive and document jewelry repairs, appraisals, and other service requests Maintain detailed records and consistently follow through on commitments Operate the point-of-sale system and accurately process customer transactions Assist with merchandising, displays, inventory, and showroom presentation Participate in store events, client outreach, and special promotions Help maintain a welcoming, polished, and memorable showroom experience Support fellow team members and contribute to a positive, collaborative workplace Continually expand your knowledge of diamonds, gemstones, precious metals, custom design, repairs, estate jewelry, and the broader jewelry industryEvery customer deserves our full attention. Whether someone is purchasing an engagement ring, creating a one-of-a-kind piece, or simply bringing in a watch battery or repair, the experience should always feel special. Qualifications: Experience and Qualifications Previous retail jewelry experience is strongly preferred, but it is not an absolute requirement. Candidates without jewelry experience should have a successful background in luxury retail, hospitality, relationship-based sales, or another high-touch customer-service environment. A college education is valued but not required. Character, communication skills, professionalism, emotional intelligence, and a demonstrated history of taking excellent care of people are more important to us than a particular degree. We will provide training in our products, services, systems, and approach to customer care. In return, we expect a genuine commitment to learning the fine jewelry industry in depth. The more you know, the more valuable you become—to your customers, your team, and your own career. Compensation: $60,000 - $80,000+ yearly
