Job Summary:
The Personal Training Manager is a high profiled position that ensures the club delivers a high-quality fitness experience to all members.
Hires, trains and develops a strong team of Personal Trainers.
Responsible for the successful attainment of department targets, including revenue and member retention.
Is a key point of reference for fitness and equipment expertise within our club.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The PT Manager is responsible for performing the following activities for the club:
Leadership, Revenue Attainment, Staffing and Development [40% of time]
Leads a fully engaged and high performing fitness team that aligns with company values and goals. Hires develops and manages the performance of certified Personal Trainers and promotes team collaboration and morale.
Conduct weekly meetings with direct reports to review performance and offer direction, motivation and guidance toward achieving individual and company goals.
Responsible for achieving monthly, quarterly and yearly revenue objectives
Mediates PT employee relations professionally and effectively.
Provides continuing education in and outside of the gym for the PT team to maintain certification and stay current on the latest fitness programs in our industry.
Responsible for timely and accurate reporting
Fitness Management [40% of time]
Ensure that all functions conducted by the PT team meet club standards and policies.
Ensure that all Personal Trainers are certified and deliver high quality programs to their clients based on client results and Net Performance Score (NPS) ratings
Manage weekly work schedules for PT staff to ensure an equitable distribution of assigned clients is made.
Empower and hold PT staff accountable to accurately record their time & billing for each client session
Effectively communicates with peer managers to integrate all programs offered with PT
Ensure fitness assessments are standardized and practice across the PT team for consistency
Sales and Service [20% of time]
Lead sales person in the PT department for growing the client base
Responsible for working with the GM on launching marketing campaigns to attract new business clients and maintain existing clients
Assist PT’s in converting fitness assessments into new client sales
Collaborates with Member Services to participate in club tours and promote fitness assessments to create a strong pipeline for new client business
Develops programs to continually educate and create awareness across the entire membership
Collaborates with Member Services and Group Training departments to generate leads
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
5 years of certified PT experience
2 years managing a team of 3-10 PT successfully or related industry
Preferred: Consultative sales experience
Knowledge of Personal Training technique and program design.
Must be able to adjust and operate all club equipment.
Experience in coaching/motivating groups.
Strong interpersonal & communication skills.
Able to generate, maintain & demonstrate a friendly, enthusiastic & positive attitude.
Customer services focused.
Responds professionally to requests and inquiries from guests, members and staff.
Education Level:
High School Diploma or GED required
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Certifications: (One or more of the following Personal Training certifications)
American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)

National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM)
