    Wilshire Associates Incorporated (Wilshire) is a global investment advisory firm that offers sophisticated, customized solutions to meet the investment needs of our clients. Wilshire is seeking to fill an ASSOCIATE/SENIOR ASSOCIATE role within its Alternatives Manager Research team, dedicated to conducting manager research and producing manager evaluations for institutional clients, family offices, and internal multi-manager solutions. This role supports the alternative investment activities for Wilshire Associates Incorporated, which cumulatively advise on more than $1 trillion in assets across asset classes.  The team covers both liquid and illiquid alternative investment strategies delivered via a range of legal structures, including onshore and offshore partnerships, ’40 Act products (e.g. mutual funds), sub-advisory relationships and custom bank risk premia. 

     

    WHAT YOU’LL DO:

    • Perform qualitative and quantitative due diligence on investment management firms and conduct investment strategy specific research across risk premia, liquid alternatives, hedge funds, and private credit strategies.
    • Source new ideas, meet with portfolio managers and other investment professionals, document meetings, provide written research opinions and evaluations.
    • Make investment recommendations and provide analysis to consultants, Wilshire portfolio managers, and clients.
    • Production of all collateral and deliverables associated with assigned investment managers, including, but not limited to, manager meeting summaries, evaluations, and ad hoc analysis.
    • Contribute to educational materials and white papers related to specific markets, investment strategies, industry trends, and general observations.
    • Represent the firm to the external investment community in a professional manner during conference calls, in-person meetings, off-site events, and manager on-site visits.

     

    WHAT YOU HAVE:

    • BA/BS in finance, economics, or related studies with strong academic credentials required
    • 3-7 years of investment manager research, institutional or HNW consulting experience in hedge fund/alternative asset classes and 5-10 years of overall investment industry experience is preferred
    • CFA charter, CAIA designation and/or MBA preferred
    • Intellectual curiosity and keen attention to detail and accuracy
    • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. A writing sample may be requested.
    • Team player with a passion for manager research
    • High proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data management
    • Familiarity with AlternativeSoft, Bloomberg, Microsoft Access, Morningstar Direct and EVestment preferred
