    The Career Opportunity:

    We are seeking experienced retail Associate Merchandise Planner to join Ricki’s Home Office located in Winnipeg.

    Merchandise planners are responsible for analyzing business performance, modelling forecasted results and recommending actions to ensure merchandise category goals are achieved. This position works in close partnership with the buyers and allocators.

    The Competencies:

    Maintains and develops business strategies and initiatives that drive profitable results.

    Analyze business performance and recommends financial strategies to support specific merchandise category. This includes hindsighting, initial plan development: sales, inventory, margin as well as re-forecasting, markdown management, and supporting buying group in assortment line review process.

    Provides recap and analysis of actual sales results. Analyzes current trends to identify risks and opportunities. Offer insights on ways to increase revenue and minimize loss.

    Transforms analysis of results into executable strategies and makes recommendations that influence investment and receipt flow strategies.

    Shares discoveries through reports and discussions with stakeholders.

    Provides pertinent feedback to the Allocation team and makes recommendations to support inventory distribution decisions.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Diploma in Fashion Merchandising or Business Administration and/or 2 years’ experience in retail management (preferably in buying or planning).

    Strong statistical/analytical skills, along with problem solving and decision making. Must be strong in retail math and be able to quickly review and evaluate financial and business indicators and draw out observations and insights. Anticipates business opportunities and risks and recommends alternative and contingency plans to address.

    Excellent communication skills. Ability to present ideas clearly and effective in a variety of presentation settings. Takes a position, supported with facts, and lobby for its acceptance. Must be able to support/align with company decisions made that are contrary to their recommendations.

    Displays effective organization, time management and reporting skills.

    Able to build constructive and effective relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.

    Proficient in Microsoft Excel. Has an aptitude to learn technical applications quickly.
