    Job Description

    Recruiting Firm, Riderflex has been hired by our client, Chevron Federal Credit Union, to find their AVP, Accounting!

    Company: Chevron Federal Credit Union Industry: Financial Services Title: AVP, Accounting Location: Oakland, CA Reports to: CFO Type: Full-Time, W-2 Compensation: $116,800-$160,600 per year  

    POSITION OVERVIEW

    This position applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing the following duties.  Maintains the appropriate level of controls and supervision to ensure accurate and timely reporting from the Department.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Prepares and/or reviews month/quarter-end financial reports including NCUA 5300 report. Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize current and projected company financial position.  Responsible for researching and documenting abnormalities or significant changes.
    • Coaches/supervises assigned staff. Takes active “hands-on” approach with all Accounting staff to ensure understanding of staff processes and works to drive continuous improvement to maximize efficiency.
    • Prepares and/or reviews variance reports as needed including Budget to Actual analysis.
    • Works with Controller to prepare annual non-interest income and expense budget.
    • Researches and documents technical accounting issues as necessary to ensure compliance with GAAP. Ensures compliance with regulatory accounting/reporting requirements.  Works with Controller to establish, modify, document, and coordinate implementation of accounting procedures, accounting control procedures, and general accounting systems. 
    • Other duties as assigned.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common professional and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
    • Ability to effectively present information to top management, groups of members, and/or boards of directors in both written and oral form.
    • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
    • Excellent knowledge of accounting principles.
    • Ability to maintain complete confidentiality of member, employee, and Credit Union information.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
    • Work involves extensive use of computers, up to eight hours per day. Appropriate visual and dexterity abilities required.
    • May include occasional pushing, pulling, or carrying objects weighing up to 20 pounds such as files and documents.
    • Work periodically involves long work days.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Accounting from four‑year college or university and minimum six years related experience, including at least two years of supervisory experience.
    • CPA preferred.
