    JOB SUMMARY

    We’re adding Engineers to help keep up with our growing business demands for productivity in our Engineering Department. The ideal candidate is proficient in CAD, has GIS experience and is familiar with public utility infrastructure and telecommunications networks. You have a keen eye for visual details as well as place value on providing credible data to stakeholders and possess sound problem-solving and decision-making abilities. You will work well with motivated peers to produce quality designs through various map formats that propel our exciting projects.

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

    • Preparation of engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports, specifications, and studies of limited scope, adaptable to varying formats
    • Performs research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection applying best engineering practices
    • Collects assimilate and manages data required for engineering work
    • Prepares engineering calculations following standard methods and procedures used for the analysis of networks
    • Understands and adheres to budget, schedule, and quality requirements
    • Shares critical design information with peers and other departments as required and coordinates with others when directed by supervisor or project leadership
    • Focuses on the needs of internal clients while attempting to gain an understanding of external client's main interests and drivers
    • May provide support to business development or pursuit activities through research
    • Route Planning and High-Level Design and analysis
    • Detailed engineering of Pole Line design for Aerial, Lease Structure processes, New Underground trench methods, Private Property demarcation, Inside Wiring requirements
    • Technical specifications in support of planning, material and service delivery

    QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

    • Associate degree or 3+ years equivalent industry or professional experience
    • Working knowledge of GIS systems and how they are used in the industry
    • Strong MS Office Suite/AutoCAD Drafting/Database skills
    • Working knowledge of Dark Fiber networks and FTTx deployment of passive optical networks
    • Working knowledge of various cable types (copper / fiber), and deployment of feeder and distribution networks from the central office to terminals, nodes
    • Excellent written and communication skills.
    • Strong interpersonal skills are needed to connect team well with various Planning groups, Implementation teams, Project Managers, Field Technicians, and other Company’s services personnel
    • Receives general instruction, otherwise performs independently with minimal supervision, exercising latitude to achieve daily objectives and approaches to critical/complex assignment
    • Creatively and effectively contributes to operational productivity by proposing innovative solutions to complex problems
